Kid's haircut at Wally's.
What a kid's haircut costs at Wally's in Daisy Hill, how to brief the cut, and when to walk in with one who won't sit still.
Kids cut at Wally's. Same chair. Same blades. Same walk-in deal as the adults. Kid's Classic Cut $38.
The cut itself is 15 to 20 minutes in the chair once they sit. The wait is the harder part.
What you'll pay#
Kid's Classic Cut $38. Anything else runs at the men's price on the board. Crew Cut $30. Skin Fade $62. Half Fade $62. Friday and Saturday surcharges apply to kids' cuts too.
Every cut includes hot towel, styling and aftershave. The aftershave is the parent's call.
What to bring#
A photo. Two if you've got them, one from the back and one from the side. Photos save us asking the same question three different ways.
If you've cut at home with clippers, the guard number works. "Two on the sides, scissor on top" is enough to start.
What to ask for#
The same things adults ask for. A clipper number. A length to leave on top. A line for the fringe. Where to take the neckline.
Don't say "neat". Don't say "short". Tell us what to leave and what to take. Pointing at the bit you mean works too.
When to come#
Midweek mornings. 9:30 to 11:00 on a school day is the calmest window of the week. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons run a close second.
Saturday mornings are the peak. 30 to 60 minute waits, sometimes longer. Don't roll in at 2:30 on a Saturday with a tired three-year-old.
Last cut is taken 30 minutes before close.
Who cuts the kid#
Whichever barber is free when you sit down. Wally and the crew cut kids the same way they cut adults. Properly.
Walk in. Shop 10, 3/5 Cupania Street, Daisy Hill QLD 4127. Mon to Sat, 9:30am open.
Ask before the chair.
- 01
- What's the youngest age you'll cut.
- Two and up. Younger and we won't have a good time.
- 02
- Do parents have to stay.
- Yes for under-tens. Sit on the bench, hold the snack, keep them facing forward.
- 03
- Can I bring a photo.
- Yes. Two angles if you can, back and side. Photos help us nail it first time.
- 04
- Is it walk-in for kids too.
- Walk-in for everyone. No phone-ahead. Sit down when the chair's free.
- 05
- Saturday morning or another day.
- Another day if you can. Midweek mornings are calm. Saturday is real wait time for everyone.
- 06
- Do you do school-photo specials.
- No specials. The cut is the cut, every day of the year.
